Generative AI is transforming how assignments are evaluated—are students submitting original work or AI-generated content? In this lecture, Dr. Maiga Chang will share the latest authorship attribution techniques to help educators quickly distinguish between AI- and human-written texts. He will also introduce a practical open-access web application. Lunch will be provided, and participants will earn 1-hour professional development credit. We warmly invite all faculty, staff, and students to join us in addressing the challenges posed by generative AI!
Dr. Chang

With the rise of generative AI (e.g., ChatGPT), educators face increasing challenges, especially in distinguishing whether students’ assignments are original or AI-assisted. This lecture, led by Dr. Maiga Chang, will dive into how Statistical Natural Language Processing (SNLP) and Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) can enable accurate and efficient 3-stage authorship attribution.
Dr. Chang will cover:
Research Insights: How 2-class and 3-class models quickly identify text sources.
Practical Tools: An introduction to an open-access web application that helps educators instantly identify AI- and human-written texts, improving fairness and precision in evaluations.
Additionally, this event includes free lunch, and participants will receive 1-hour professional development credit.
