Curriculum Design using the CDIO Framework: An Introduction

 

This seminar aims at providing participants with a basic understanding of the CDIO Framework. It provides a brief history of the CDIO Initiative and explains the CDIO approach to design (or redesign) a curriculum. It highlights the salient features of CDIO in terms of the Syllabus and Standards that guide the design (or redesign) process, aimed at continually improving the curriculum in light of on-going changes in an educational institution external operating environment. The key emphasis of CDIO in progressively developing students’ competencies (knowledge, skills and attitudes) consistent with the requirements of key stakeholders in the students’ chosen field of study. It will also share various examples of how the CDIO Framework is used to develop skills needed at the workplace.
